in Cologne – Germany
Nestled in the historic centre of Cologne on Kämmergasse, Sahila has established itself as a distinctive destination within the city’s fine dining scene. More than simply a restaurant, it represents a meeting point of cultures, traditions, and personal experiences brought together under one roof. Its central location places guests amidst the energy and history of Cologne, while offering an atmosphere that reflects curiosity, exploration, and international inspiration.
At the heart of Sahila is chef and founder Julia Komp, one of Germany’s most notable culinary figures. Raised near Cologne, Komp began her professional journey through classical culinary training before refining her skills in several respected kitchens. Her career included positions at restaurants such as Zur Tant, the executive casino of TÜV Rheinland, and La Poêle d’Or, before she gained national recognition during her time at Schloss Loersfeld. There, she became Germany’s youngest female Michelin-starred chef, marking an important milestone in her professional development.
A defining chapter in Julia Komp’s career came in 2018, when she embarked on an extensive journey around the world. Traveling through more than thirty countries, she immersed herself in local cultures, traditions, and hospitality concepts, gaining first-hand experience that would later shape the identity of Sahila. These travels became a source of inspiration for the restaurant’s philosophy, where global perspectives and cultural storytelling come together in a uniquely personal way.
Supporting the restaurant’s vision is Julia Komp’s partner, Yunus Özananar, who plays a significant role in the management and development of the business. Together, they have transformed Sahila into a project that balances creative ambition with warm hospitality, creating a destination that reflects both their shared values and entrepreneurial spirit.
Sahila is built on the belief that dining can be an exploration of cultures and traditions. Established with the vision of creating a space where hospitality and international influences merge seamlessly, the restaurant has grown into a destination that embraces heritage while continually evolving through new ideas and experiences.
Every visit is designed as a journey that begins in Cologne and extends far beyond its city limits. Inspired by Julia Komp’s travels and encounters around the world, the experience moves through different regions and cultures, highlighting stories, traditions, and inspirations gathered across continents. From Europe to Asia, South America to the Middle East, each chapter reflects the restaurant’s global outlook and its commitment to celebrating cultural diversity.
Guided by authenticity, curiosity, and a passion for discovery, Sahila continues to carve out its place within Cologne’s fine dining landscape. It stands as a reflection of its founders’ journeys, offering guests an experience shaped by years of dedication, international exploration, and a desire to bring the world a little closer together.
