On a sunny Monday evening, the anticipation was already building as we approached Lido 84. At 7:15 pm, a small group had gathered in front of the parking gate, waiting for it to open. Right on schedule at 7:30 pm, the gate was unlocked, and guests began making their way toward the restaurant. Even before reaching the entrance, the staff greeted us warmly, setting the tone for the experience to come. Instead of being seated inside, we were led to a table outside, offering a breathtaking view of Lake Garda. Though the restaurant was full, each table felt uniquely private, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the moment without distraction.
Dining at Lido 84 is not about selecting dishes from a menu—it is about trust and discovery. The experience begins with a simple conversation about preferences and any ingredients guests wish to avoid. From there, the chef curates a personalized menu, ensuring that each guest is taken on a culinary journey designed specifically for them. With each course, another unexpected delight arrived, reinforcing the sense of anticipation and appreciation for the craft behind every plate.
During one of the conversations with the maître, a simple remark about the bread led to an unexpected moment of connection. At the end of the meal, he invited me into the restaurant, remembering the name of the company I had worked for years ago—Olivetti—and showing me an artwork based on an Olivetti typewriter. This small yet thoughtful gesture highlighted the genuine care and attentiveness that permeates Lido 84, reinforcing the personal nature of the experience.
Though currently holding one Michelin star, Lido 84 is undoubtedly a destination that surpasses expectations. It is not just a restaurant—it is an experience worth seeking out, one that is carefully crafted from the setting, the service, and the philosophy behind the cuisine. Whether considered “worth a detour” or a “special journey,” one thing is certain—reservations are essential, and planning ahead is highly recommended to secure a place at this extraordinary lakeside retreat.
